The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has confirmed the killing of a cattle trader by India's Border Security Force (BSF) at the India-Bangladesh border in Fulbari, about 25 kilometres from Siliguri.
BGB Company Commander Saiful Islam, was quoted by the Daily Star, as saying in Kushumpur that the Bangladeshi cattle trader had entered Indian territory last night in the Kushumpur-Jhenidah area, and was chased and shot at by the BSF personnel close to the BSF camp at Nonaganj.
The dead man has been identified as 25-year-old Jiarul Islam, a resident of Dhankhola village at Jibon Nagar upazila in Chuadanga.
The incident happened near pillar No. 61/18 at around 9.30 p.m.
Islam said that the BSF returned the body around 11 p.m.
