Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) on Thursday claimed that India's Border Security Force personnel had killed a Bangladeshi cattle trader on the Ambari frontier in Patgram Upazila of Lalmonirhat District late on Wednesday night.
The Daily Star quoted BGB sources, as saying that they had identified the deceased cattle trader as 28-year-old Shimul Prodhan, a resident of Shamsernagar village in Patgram Upazila.
The BGB sources further confirmed that at least six Bangladeshi cattle traders had crossed over into India to bring some cattle last night.
They Prodhan was shot and killed by the BSF patrol team of Choyangarkhata camp in West Bengal's Cooch Behar District.
Shimul, who received chest and abdomen wounds, died on the spot, the BGB sources said.
The Commanding Officer of Border Guard Bangladesh Battalion-15, Lieutenant Colonel Shafiul Alam Khan, confirmed the incident, and added that a protest letter has been sent to the concerned BSF official of Choyangarkhata camp.
