Spanish giants Barcelona has gained their ninth victory of the season in the La Liga following a 2-1 win over arch-rivals Real Madrid in Saturday's La Liga 'Clasico' at the Nou Camp.
Unbeaten Barcelona's victory puts them on 28 points ahead of third-placed Real at the top of the standings, while second-placed Atletico Madrid are four points behind Barcelona ahead of their game at home to Real Betis on Sunday.
According to Stuff.co.nz, Barcelona landed an early blow in the title race with Neymar's clinical 19th-minute finish and a sublime chip from substitute Alexis Sanchez 11 minutes from time in the 167th league meeting between the world's two richest clubs by income.
Although Real brought their forward Jese from the bench and managed to save face with a consolation goal from the player in the last minute, they were however, outplayed for long periods and slipped six points behind the champions with ten matches played, the report added.
