Baz Luhrmann is said to be in negotiations to direct the Elvis Presley's biopic project and wants Leonardo DiCaprio to star in the film.
An industry source said the 51-year-old Australian director, who has films like 'Moulin Rouge', 'Romeo And Juliet' and 'The Great Gatsby' to his credits, has been in talks for several weeks and is expected to close the deal soon, the Daily Express reported.
Luhrmann wants the 39-year-old star to play the legendary singer and it is believed that his Oscar winner Catherine Martin, would do the costume designing and possibly production designing as well, added the insider.
Warner Bros will be taking care of musical components in Presley's catalogue for this project and the scripting will be done by 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' fame Kelly Marcel.
