The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Wednesday shortlisted 21 candidates out of 57 applicants for the post of Head coach of the Indian team after they met the primary criteria specified by the sport's governing body.

The cricket advisory committee which consists of three eminent cricketers, namely Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman in association with Sanjay Jagdale, who will act as Chief Coordinator, will process and scrutinise all the applications, conduct interviews and seek presentations from candidates as the committee deems fit.

The committee will then be required to recommend its choice of selection to the BCCI President Anurag Thakur through Honorary Secretary Ajay Shirke. It is expected to give its report to the secretary by June 22.

In addition, the committee can also review all 57 applications that were received for the post.

Tendulkar, who is out of the country, has confirmed his availability as and when required through video conference facilities.
