Asserting that the verdict of the Bihar Assembly polls reflect the aspirations of the people of the state and not of the nation, the government on Monday reminded the Opposition that the victory of the Mahagathbandhan could not be used as ammunition to 'obstruct' the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament.

Talking to the media after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA), Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) respects the verdict of the people of Bihar.

"We will do a detailed analysis of the outcome, but all concerned need to understand that the Bihar verdict needs to be taken in the right perspective. To interpret the result as mandate to disrupt the Parliament is questioning the wisdom of people of the state," Naidu said.

He asserted that it was wrong to say the Bihar results reflected the country's mood as polls were held only in one state while adding that the Opposition won as the 'social arithmetic' dynamics were in their favour.

"The verdict is a clear statement of Bihar's aspirations as their development and that of India are inter-linked and mutually re-enforcing. People of Bihar also want development like any other state and have given their mandate to Nitish, but it is to be understood that the mandate is for their aspirations and not for the Parliament," Naidu said.

The Winter Session of the Parliament is set to begin on November 26 and end on December 23.

The Narendra Modi-led NDA Government is keen to take up important legislations like the GST bill, Land Acquisition Bill, the Real Estate Regulation and Development Bill and Negotiable Instruments Arbitration Bill. The last session was a virtual washout.
