Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said he would personally take stock of the areas which have been affected by storms, and added that appropriate measures would be taken.
"The incident took place in the night (storm). I will personally take stock of the situation in Purnia and Bhagalpur. We are assessing the situation, all appropriate measures will be taken," Kumar said while speaking in the state assembly.
At least 20 people were killed and around 100 others were injured by storms that struck three Bihar districts - Patna, Purnia and Madhepura-late on Tuesday night.
According to reports, the Bihar Government has launched relief and rescue operations in the affected areas.
A compensation of Rs.4 lakh each has been sanctioned for the next of kin of the victims, media reports said.
