Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravi Shankar Prasad on Friday questioned the silence of so-called parties that fight for Dalit and the OBC rights, when there are attempts made by the Congress to snatch this plank away from them.

"I want to ask the parties like the Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Janata Dal-United (JD-U) and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), as to why they are keeping quite when the Congress is trying or attempts are being made to snatch away the rights of Dalits and OBCs. The sub-quota which does not happen for others, shows that it is a most corrupt symbol of communal politics which the Congress is trying to play at the onset of elections. It is illegal, unconstitutional and politically immoral," Prasad said at a press conference in Lucknow.

The additional manifesto adopted by the Congress, the party has declared that it will seek to empower minorities.

The Congress has stated that it will work towards earmarking a quota of 4.5 per cent for backward Muslims in the existing other-backward-caste (OBC) reservations.
