Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers on Tuesday protested in Kanpur after a member was expelled from the party for six years after he allegedly misbehaved with party leader Murli Manohar Joshi.
Reportedly, party member Vikas Jaiswal, during a meeting questioned Joshi's candidature and also objected to a banner, of a slogan along religion lines hailing Narendra Modi, put up inside the hall and was later heckled by BJP leaders and supporters.
Later, the leaders took a decision to expel Jaiswal saying that he had indulged in indiscipline and inappropriate behavior.
However, expelled member Jaiswal called it a completely wrong decision and said the party should reconsider it immediately to calm down the protest.
"Businessmen who are members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are breaking their ties with the party as they are angry. I have been working with BJP for the past 10 years. If the party does not take a stringent action against this move then the party representative has to face the brunt," said Jaiswal.
Many party workers and businessmen have decided to break their ties and have put their resignation letters with the party complaining that the party is not working as per their interests.
They further added that the party has turned a blind eye towards its weaknesses. They have selected a representative who is not working in the interests of party workers.
The party workers have also put banners against Joshi and said if the party does not take back its decision this will also affect the party's performance in the polls.
