Sepp Blatter has criticised disgraced former FIFA executive member Chuck Blazer for his irresponsible statements on the 2010 World Cup.

The 79-year-old said that Blazer was not morally responsible for alleging there was something amiss with the 2010 FIFA World Cup as that was the cleanest World Cup that has ever been done, Sport24 reported.

Blatter, who was re-elected for a fifth term in May as president but then stood down amidst an investigation into corruption charges, had earlier slammed his critics saying that he was respected in many parts of the world.

FIFA's reputation has been severely tarnished after 14 sports marketing executives and football officials, including several from Zurich-based FIFA, were indicted by the United States in late May over corruption charges.

The embattled president insisted that he along with FIFA had done a lot for the development of football, adding that his contributions would be recognised when he is gone.

Meanwhile, Swiss prosecutors have been investigating the bids for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, won by Russia and Qatar respectively after Blazer admitted of accepting bribes for choosing countries to play hosts for the World Cups.
