Five months after he was announced the winner of 2016 Nobel Prize for Literature, Bob Dylan is all set to accept his diploma and the medal from the Academy.

The iconic singer-songwriter will be presented with the prestigious Nobel Prize in Stockholm, Sweden, where he will perform in a pair of concerts, reports CNN.

"The good news is that the Swedish Academy and Bob Dylan have decided to meet this weekend. The Academy will then hand over Dylan's Nobel diploma and the Nobel medal, and congratulate him on the Nobel Prize in Literature," Sara Danius, permanent secretary of the Academy, wrote in a blog post.

Earlier, Dylan had declined the invitation to attend the traditional Nobel Prize ceremony in December 2016, stating other commitments.

She also shared that 'no Nobel Lecture will be held' in person, this time.

"Please note that no Nobel Lecture will be held. The Academy has reason to believe that a taped version will be sent at a later point."

The first songwriter to receive the prize later sent a thank-you speech that was read aloud during the ceremony in Stockholm, but he didn't choose a person to accept the award in his place.

In the speech, Dylan apologised for not being able to attend the event and expressed surprise over being chosen as a laureate in the league of authors like Ernest Hemingway and Albert Camus.

For the unversed, the Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to Dylan "for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.
