Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Anupam Kher, Vivek Oberoi along with several other filmstars and music personalities came together for a charity concert 'Hum Hain... Umeed-e-Kashmir' to raise funds for the flood victims of Kashmir and Assam in New Delhi.

The concert was an initiative of the entertainment industry led by the Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA), the Film and Television Producers Guild and Zee Media.

Voicing their concerns over the issue, stars urged people to make their contribution in whatever way possible.

Speaking at the event, filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar said, "It's a very tragic event for many people and it will be a great thing if we all get united to help the flood-hit areas at this time. Every day when we read the news papers we see events which are dividing us so we should take this opportunity publicly to tell the world that we are one."

Superstar Aamir Khan who made a donation of Rs 25 lakh said, "We would like to give this message that this is the time when we should stand with the people of Kashmir and help them. Whenever our country is challenged by natural disaster we all come together be it Uttrakhand's incident or Gujrat's incident. So whenever something like this happens it becomes our duty to help the people of that area."

Veteran actor Anupam Kher, who is a Kashmiri, worn a traditional Kashmiri phiran, and said that the dress was a symbol of the Hindus and Muslims of the state as they both wear the same clothing.

The benefit concert also saw performances by singer Shaan, Daler Mehandi and Javed Ali.
