Former England captain Sir Ian Botham has said that there is a 'glimmer of hope' for England at the World Twenty20 tournament in Bangladesh as anything can happen in T20 cricket.

Botham points to the fact that although critics had almost given up Paul Collingwood-led England in 2010 before that year's World T20 given their poor form, however, the team surprised themselves by winning their only global trophy in the Caribbean.

According to the Mirror, however, Botham doubted that the a similar miracle will bring the current squad out of the morass they have sunk into as they prepare to enter the Super-10 stage of the tournament, adding that it would be remarkable if England manages to enter even the semi-final stages of the tournament.

Botham further said that the form and fitness of the current England side is much worse than the 2010 side, although he added that there may be some hope for the beleaguered team if they manage to get on 'a roll' as he believes anything can happen in T20 cricket.

Stating that Stuart Broad's men have nothing to lose, Botham also said that there is no pressure on them as no one expects any miracles from England, adding that they can therefore go out, enjoy and play a good cricket.

Botham also said that T20 cricket should be all about expressing and 'having a go', and urged the players to stop being 'cagey' as there is nothing to hold them back in the one-off tournament.
