Boy hospitalized due to ragging in Bangalore

A 17-year-old was, while being allegedly ragged, beaten up so severely that he had to be hospitalized here today.

Speaking to the media, the victim said, "I was going to have lunch and they (the tormentors) called me to talk. They took me to a room where no cameras were installed. Suddenly someone came and slapped me and started beating me."

Following University Grants Commission (UGC) recommendations, ragging today has been defined as an act that violates or is perceived to violate an individual student's dignity.
