Bringing Dolkun to justice is due obligation of relevant countries, says China

Reacting to the Indian Government cancelling the visa for Dolkun Isa, head of the 'World Uyghur Congress', China on Tuesday said the former is a terrorist on the red notice of the Interpol and the Chinese Police, adding bringing him to justice is the due obligation of relevant countries.

"We have noted the relevant report. What I would like to stress is that Dolkun is a terrorist on the red notice of the Interpol and the Chinese police. Bringing him to justice is the due obligation of relevant countries. The Sino-Indian relationship enjoys a sound momentum of development. The two sides should respect each other's concerns and properly handle relevant issues," China Foreign Ministry Affairs spokesperson Hua Chunying said.

"Upon learning that the Indian government would grant a visa for Dolkun, the Chinese side has immediately expressed its concerns with the Indian side through the diplomatic channel," she added.

As per MHA sources, India had earlier on Monday denied visa to Dolkun to visit Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh for a conference.

His visit was being seen as a retaliatory measure taken by the Indian Government after China blocked the listing of Jaish-e-Muhammad chief Masood Azhar as an international terrorist at the United Nation.

Dolkun has been invited to a conference being organised by the US-based Initiatives for China. Uyghurs and other Chinese dissidents in exile are expected to attend and discuss democratic transformation in China.

Meanwhile, the organiser of the event, Tenzin Ninjey, had earlier said that China is wrong in calling him a terrorist.

"Dolkun Isa is a peace activist. There is no comparison at all with terrorist Masood Azhar," he told ANI.
