Britain to send in troops to help Jordan wipe out IS

Britain is set send troops to Jordan in order to support its fight against the Islamic State (IS) in Syria and Iraq.

Initially, a batch of 60 military planners will join a new coalition headquarter that will co-ordinate support for Iraqi and Kurdish troops, reported The Daily Express.

The move comes after Jordan decided to extend air strikes from Syria to Iraq in the aftermath of the killing of a Jordanian hostage by the IS.

Royal Artillery drones and electronic jammers from the Royal Signals are some of the units that will be deployed by April.

Also, the RAF Sentinel R1 spy-plane will be used to target Islamic State commanders.

The decision comes after the Commons defence select committee remarked that Britain was "not doing enough" to push back the terror group.

The report said that just three British soldiers were operating outside the Kurdish-controlled areas of Iraq, despite promises made by Defence Secretary Michael Fallon to commit "hundreds" of trainers.
