The Kundli garbage landfill, which is said to be burning for more than 35 years despite the National Green Tribunal's (NGT) has imposed a nationwide ban on the burning of bulk waste in open spaces.

The locals have expressed their concern regarding the health problems they face.

Kundli, one of the important Industrial areas, of west Delhi and east of Sonipat has a huge waste landfill has posed severe health risk to the residents of the area as well as a major threat to the environment.

Speaking to ANI, one of the locals said, "People are not even ready to marry off their daughters in this area due to the pathetic condition which is a result of these emissions."

"We suffer breathing problems due to the landfill fire and it also causes air pollution. It is sad that our plight is not heard," another resident added.

They complained of being introduced to new diseases every season.

Chikungunya and dengue are most common in monsoon since all the dirty water from the dump gets extracted and goes to the residential area which then affects them with the disease.

The locals have also complained that the authorities never investigate into the serious matter.

The locals have requested the authorities to take action as soon as possible since it has become a struggle for them to go on with their daily lives.
