Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi on Wednesday avoided commenting on reports of twenty-one Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs having criminal cases against them and said that a thorough investigation would be done if such cases are pending.

According to reports, the Delhi Police will be wrapping up its investigations in these cases and soon file the chargesheet in the court.

"I don't want to say anything on this issue. I don't know from where you have got this kind of information.... All I would like to say is that if any such cases are pending then our objective would to be to conduct the investigation as soon as possible. The report will be presented in the court after the investigation papers. That report can be the chargesheet under Section 173 or it can be the cancellation report or the trace report," Bassi told the media here.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party leader Ashutosh took to Twitter and expressed his anguish over the matter. The journalist-turned politician said the BJP is planting such stories to divert the media attention from External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's issue.

"My name is missing in the list of people to be arrested by Delhi police. Many cases Ag me also. Feeling left out and unimportant," he tweeted.

"To divert attention from Sushma, story of 21 AAP MLAs to be arrested, is planted by MODI GOVT. Gullible TV channels are gleefully running. Haha. Some times I really feel sorry for the quality of TV reporters. They take direct dope from Police/Officials/ministers without verification," he added.

"I request all TV crime reporters to get an official byte from police stating that they are planning to charge sheet and arrest 21 AAP MLAs. I Hope I heard Police Commissioner right. I am not sure about TV Channels," he said in a series of tweets.
