Chelsea asks Man U to name 'any price' for 'wantaway' Rooney

Chelsea has reportedly refused to bow down to Manchester United's public claim that wantaway strker Wayne Rooney will not be sold by asking United to name their price for the troubled star.

According to sources, the Blues' owner Roman Abramovich would be prepared to splash out over 30 million pounds for Rooney, who is also being chased by new French league champions Paris Saint Germain, and match his 250,000 pounds-a-week United salary, the Mirror reports.

The report said that Abramovich is determined not to be outbid by PSG for Rooney and will also blow any interest from Arsenal, adding that the new Old Trafford boss David Moyes has made Rooney's future his top priority and will soon speak to the player.

According to the report, those talks may well decide whether or not Abramovich gets his man, adding that Jose Mourinho, who is rumoured to be a big Rooney fan, is expected to return to the Blues for a second spell as manager after his stint at Real Madrid.

Stating that Mourinho would love to manage Rooney, a source said that Mourinho feels that he can get Rooney back to his best and use him in a similar way like Didier Drogba operated for Chelsea.
