The people of Chennai seem to get no respite from the heavy downpour as the rainfall is expected to continue till next few days.
Briefing the media over the weather condition in the coastal city, Director General of Indian Metrological Department (IMD), L S Rathore said "The rainfall is likely to continue for about a week, but situation critical for the next 48 hours."
"There is a possibility of the situation staying the way it is for the next three days," he added.
The Army, Navy and the NDRF teams have been called in to help rescue efforts as worst rain in 100 years affects Chennai.
