China has reported nearly 97 million outbound tourists in 2013, which marks the highest number of tourists worldwide as well as the maximum amount of overseas spending.
According to the China National Tourism Administration, the figures are expected to surpass 100 million in 2014, the China Daily reports.
The report released by the Tourist Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences said that the Chinese tourists have had the world's strongest purchasing power since 2012.
According to the report, 2012 reported 83 million Chinese tourists spending 102 billion dollars overseas, a 40 percent increase from 2011.
Chinese tourists spend so much abroad that some foreigners call them the 'walking wallets'.
