Australian captain Michael Clarke has said that Aaron Finch has a chance to cement an opening spot for the 2015 World Cup if he can replicate his powerful Big Bash League form in the one-day arena for Australia against England.
The Melbourne Renegades captain, whose most devastating innings for Australia was in a Twenty20 game against England last August - an astonishing 156 from 63 balls, was last seen roosting a ball into the roof at Etihad Stadium on his way to an unbeaten 84 against the Melbourne Stars.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Finch has featured in five of Australia's 10 different opening combinations in one-day cricket over the past year and Clarke said that the cricketer has leadership qualities and can get an opportunity to play in the World Cup if he performs like he did in the BBL this season with 262 runs at 65.5.
Clarke further said that Finch has shown his best cricket in patches since he started playing one-day and T20 cricket for Australia, adding that he hopes Finch's domestic form continues, as he is a wonderful talent and an important part of this squad.
