Australia flexed their bowling muscles and blasted quick knocks on Saturday to seal second place on Pool A table by defeating Scotland by seven wickets at Hobart.

Put into bat, Scotland batsmen wilted under pressure against a menacing Australian bowling unit and were bundled out for 130 runs within 25.4 overs.

Man-of-the-Match Mitchell Starc led the attack as he captured four wickets, while Pat Cummins substantially supported the former by claiming three wickets.

Five of the Scotland's batsmen couldn't even open their accounts before they trudged back to the pavilion for their individual ducks.

Matt Machan was the only batsman to show some spine as he smacked 40 runs off 35 balls before his dismissal, while Calum Macleod (22), Josh Davey (26) and Michael Leask (23*) scored twenties before their respective dismissals .

Chasing a paltry target of 130, Australia comfortably chased down the target in the 16th over as skipper Michael Clarke top scored with being dismissed for 47 runs before rain halted the game.

Aaron Finch smacked 20 runs while veteran all-rounder Shane Watson scored 24 runs before being caught by Matthew Cross off Davey's delivery.

After the game resumed, David Warner and James Faulkner wasted no more time as they blasted a brisk 21 and 16 runs off six deliveries each to finish off the game with 208 balls remaining.
