Clooney recalls 'Torture rape' of Darfur, demands to curb violence

George Clooney wrote an op-ed in New York Times and criticized the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Darfur, Sudan and asked to put an end to it.

The Oscar-winning actor wrote that in 2004 United States declared Sudan's actions as genocide, but now after years, world has forgotten about the humanitarian crisis in the country whereas the citizen of that place haven't as they are still going through it, E! Online reported.

The 53-year-old Hollywood mega-star mentioned in his op-ed that data stated later on stated that after collecting 130 witnesses and survivor testimonies, atleast 221 women had been raped by soldiers of the Sudanese Army over a 36-hour period last October.

Clooney informed that already some courts have declared it as a torture, and now with United Nations Security Council every person has to take a stand against this in human behavior.

Notably, people of Darfur went through mass rape that took place in the village of Tabit, set up with money from Qatar for displaced citizens to live.
