Coach attendant allegedly molests minor inside train in West Bengal

A minor girl was allegedly molested by an attendant in an empty train as it was going to New Jalpaiguri station here on Friday.

The coach attendant reportedly pulled the 16-year-old girl, who was waiting with her mother on the platform at Kishanganj, inside the slowly moving Garib Nawaz Express.

However, the girl managed to escape after the incident.

A senior officer of railway police, Sanjay Kumar Mishra said victim's medical report is awaited for further action against the accused.

"A girl has reported that a bed-roll attendant molested her. The Government Railway Police (GRP) is investigating the incident. She has been sent for medical report. The GRP of NEJP (New Jalpaiguri) will take further action after receiving the report," he said.

The accused has been arrested on the girl's complaint.

The incident comes after a spate of high profile rapes in the state, which have brought Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee under fire for not doing enough to stop violence against women.
