The Coast Guard has commissioned state of the art ships and interceptor vessels at a ceremony in Puducherry.
The coast guard ship was commissioned by Lt general Ajay Kumar Singh, Governor of Puducherry.
"I think it's a great day for Indian Coast Guard that they have inducted three state of art ships ICGS Anagh, and two fast interceptor vessels C-417 and C-430. The Indian Coast Guard is a real time component of Indian maritime security," said Singh.
ICGS ANAGH, C-430 AND C-417 will function under the operational control of commander coast guard east.
ICGS ANAGH would be stationed at Chennai and it is a 50 meter water jet propelled high speed fast patrol vessel having displacement of 290 tonnes and maximum speed of 33 knots.
ICGS C-430 AND C-417 will be stationed at Kakinada and Krishnampattinam. These boats will have overall length of 27.80 mts, displacement of 101 tonnes and maximum speed of 45 knots.
These boats are capable of undertaking multifarious tasks such as surveillance, interdiction, search, rescue and coordinated operations with other sea air units. While ANAGH will have 39 and ICGS C-430 AND C-417 will have 11 personnel.
