Collegium: SC asks Centre to submit draft memorandum of changes sought

The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked the Central Government to submit a draft memorandum of procedure with changes sought in the existing collegium system.

An apex court constitution bench had earlier dispersed to decide whether a five judge bench can alter the procedure set out by the nine judge bench.

The Union Law Ministry's website had been flooded with suggestions on improving the collegium system of judges appointing judges in higher judiciary as almost 3,500 representations have been posted on the website, the Supreme Court was told on Tuesday.
