The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday criticised the Congress for their 'conditional' support to the Centre over the surgical strikes conducted by the Indian Army on terror launch pads operating in Pakistan occupied Kashmir on September 29.

BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli told ANI that it is upto the prerogative of the army and the central government to release the surgical strike evidence or not.

"As far as the Congress party is concerned, they have to finally speak in one voice and decide whether they are going to support the government in its fight against terror or not. If they extend their support then it can't be conditional," he added

"With regard to evidence, that is for the army primarily and then the government to decide whether it would serve India's interest or not to release it for India's own interest," he added.

Taking the ongoing battle over the surgical strikes by the Army to another level, the Congress on Monday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for using the sacrifices of the Indian soldiers for his political gains and garner votes in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh and Punjab polls.

Congress party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala re-iterated that the UPA Government in its days had never politicised or beat the drum when they conducted surgical strikes, "because those who were supposed to get a strong response got the message and we were satisfied by that", adding that "our brave Armed Forces were behind the victory and our government never tried to take credit for it.
