The Congress Party on Friday criticised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for ordering the removal of ten villages for establishing the new capital of the state.
"Chandrababu Naidu is in a hurry to establish the capital of Andhra Pradesh, when the Land Acquisition Bill has been rejected by the opposition unitedly," said Congress leader Hanumanta Rao.
"What was the need for removing these ten villages? How will the villagers survive?" he asked.
The Andhra Pradesh government has issued a notification to acquire land in ten villages in the proposed capital region under the Land Acquisition Act.
Rao further said both Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are like minded, hence they are in hurry to remove the farmers from their lands.
Rao slammed film actor Pawan Kalyan for not opposing the government, saying "he earlier told that, he won't let the government take the land forcibly today I would like to ask him to go there and stop these forced acquisition."
"Being a leader from Telangana, I do extend my support towards the people whose land have been taken away by the state government for establishing the new capital of the state," he added.
