The Youth Congress organized a protest in front of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar's official residence yesterday evening against his alleged of anti-India remark.
The protesters raising slogans against Sarkar termed him agent of China and demanded his arrested immediately with the intervention of the Union Home Ministry.
Youth Congress leader Baptu Chakraborty who lead the protest said, "In the conclave our Chief Minister had given anti-India statement in front of foreigners and held back the image of India. His remark is totally unconstitutional and we demand that the Home Ministry of India take step and immediately arrest the Chief Minister for his anti-India statement."
The Chief Minister recently during a connectivity summit here in presence of a Bangladesh Minister and other foreign delegates had allegedly said that India is playing a big brotherly attitude with its neighouring nations.
Last Friday, the opposition Trinamool Congress (TMC) walked out of the Tripura Assembly protested and demanded withdrawal of the alleged derogatory remark against the country by Sarkar.
TMC lawmaker Sudip Roy Barman alleged that Sarkar is echoing the voice of Pakistan.
Barman said that Sarkar's remark in present of an international delegation especially at such a volatile time, when India is raising it voice against Pakistan at the UN after the recent killing of the 18 troopers at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir, is not only detrimental to the interest of the nation but also unconstitutional on the part of a Chief Minister of a state.
However, the Chief Minister made it clear that he shall stick to his remark and being an Indian, he has every right to suggest the government of India.
