Congress meets CVC, says mining scam exposes double standards of Raje Govt.

Upping the ante against Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, the Congress delegation on Wednesday met the Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) and submitted a memorandum over the multi-crore 'mining scam' uncovered by the state's anti-corruption bureau.

"Even after the Centre's notification that a mine cannot be allotted before it is auctioned, the Rajasthan Government has allocated 653 mines in 72 days. The fact that this is happening right under the BJP Government nose shows the height of corruption. We have asked the CAG and CVC to investigate. Why is the CBI not looking into this scam which is the biggest of its kind since the independence?" Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee chief Sachin Pilot told the media here.

Pilot asserted that Raje had nowhere to hide now and must step down as the Chief Minister.

The Congress had earlier hit out at the BJP Government in Rajasthan, saying Raje and her party leaders were indulging in 'political vendetta' targeting the Opposition and interfering with working of probe agencies, thus tarnishing the state's image.
