Accusing the Congress of politicising everything, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday showered praise on Prime Minister Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann ki Baat' programme and said that he speaks on subjects which are in the interest of the nation.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi through 'Mann ki Baat' not only reaches out to the citizens but at the same time also speaks on subjects that may be relevant to them. He shares many things that are in the interest of the country," BJP leader Nalin Kohli told ANI here.

Kohli further accused the Congress of politicising each and everything that is in India's interest

"The success of International Yoga Day not only in India but also globally; 'Beti Padhao Beti Bachao' programme which started in a village in Haryana by a sarpanch; 'raksha bandhan' which can be converted into an opportunity to increase the reach of our insurance programmes, pension programmes for our sisters and mothers ---these are the important initiatives of the government which involve the benefit of the people of India," he added.

In his 'Mann ki Baat' programme on All India Radio earlier, Prime Minister Modi called for making 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' a mass movement in the country.

Expressing concern over the declining child sex ratio, he said the situation particularly in Haryana is very grave.

He lauded Sunil Jaglan, the sarpanch of Bibipur village in Haryana, for taking initiative and posing a selfie with his daughter. The Prime Minister urged all fathers to follow Jaglan's example and post selfie with their daughters on social media #selfiewithdaughter.

He also complimented all countrymen for overwhelming participation and making the International Yoga Day on June 21 a grand success.
