Taking a jibe at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday said the grand old party has been reduced to 40 seats because of his credibility.

"Yes the credibility is over. So, they have come down from 444 to 40," he told the media.

Naidu also made it clear that none of the BJP Ministers would resign and accused the Congress of not allowing the democracy to function.

"They are not allowing the democracy to function. It is against the democratic spirit. They are supposed to be a party with 50 years of experience. I request them once again please come back to the discussion. Let the House function. Discuss, debate and decide that is the only way, there is no other way out," said Naidu.

"There is no question of any of my ministers resigning because nobody has committed any wrong, nothing illegal, nothing immoral has been done. This I have made amply clear. And moreover, there is no substance in what they are saying.. We are committed that the House functions and then House takes up substantial people's issues, including legislation," he added.

The Lok Sabha has been adjourned for the day and the Rajya Sabha till 2 p.m. on the Lalit Modi episode and Vyapam scam. Earlier, both the Houses witnessed brief adjournments over the issue amidst opposition uproar. This is for the third consecutive day that the logjam between the opposition and the government continued.
