The Indian National Congress (INC) on Wednesday released its manifesto for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls due next month. The party in its manifesto focused on a slew of pro-poor promises which includes houses and health for all and more jobs for the youth.
The tagline of the party's manifesto, which was unveiled in the presence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, her son Rahul and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had the tagline "Your Voice, Our Pledge."
The highlight of this manifesto envisages Right to Shelter for all the countrymen, through an act of Parliament which will give everyone entitled to a roof over their head.
Same has been offered in the healthcare sector which the aims to make it affordable and accessible for everyone.
It also laid stress on Right to Social Security, and stressed on fixed income scheme for the aged and disabled.
The other area which has drawn Congress to include in its poll promise is generating employment opportunities for the youth in a big way in the private sector.
The party has pledged to steer the country back on track to an eight percent growth rate in three years and also waive export taxes and also improve the country's infrastructure as well.
The Congress manifesto also talks about ensuring the enactment of remaining anti-corruption bills as priority.
The Gandhi scion spoke about fulfilling 90 percent of the 2009 poll manifesto of the Congress when it had pledged to pursue Food Security Law which has been enacted and also the Right to Education and main poll plank at that time.
He also thanked the people whom he meet during his several rallies and meetings with focus groups for giving his party inputs which has helped the Congress to prepare its 2014 poll manifesto. At the same time he pledged to bring out 70 crore people who are above poverty line (APL) but below the middle class will be brought into the level of middle class.
