Cook and co. ready to 'upset' India to end 38-yr trophy drought with CT win

England captain Alastair Cook has said that his team is fully confident of upsetting India and ending a 38-year one-day international trophy drought by winning the ICC Champions Trophy final at Edgbaston on Sunday.

Acknowledging that his team is the underdog, with India being the favourite in the tournament with their performances, Cook, however, said that he is confident that his men will be the best side in the game and break the drought of 38 years, the Guardian reports.

Stating that his side is chomping at the bit to play in the final, Cook also said that he hopes for a good performance from his men given the amount of one-day matches they had been playing earlier this summer, and their performances in them, adding that he hoped that their Champions Trophy performance will prepare them for the upcoming World Cup.

According to Cook, there is no reason to believe that his team will be unsuccessful as they have delivered good performances in the last two games, adding that they are relaxed and ready to go into the game.

Confirming that Tim Bresnan would be back with the squad after the birth of his son, Cook further said that although ailing spinner Graeme Swann is recovering well, he would not be risked if there is the slightest doubt about his fitness.

According to the report, Cook will inspect the playing surface - for the first time - on the morning of the match.

The strip has been under the covers for two days. Bresnan and Steven Finn will be competing for one place and the final decision may well depend upon what Cook sees in the morning, the report added.
