New Zealand hero Corey Anderson may reportedly lose half of his 866,000-dollar Indian Premier League (IPL) auction price after he injured his finger in Monday's World Twenty20 defeat to Sri Lanka.

Anderson dislocated and cut the little finger on his right hand while trying to catch Sri Lanka's Sachithra Senanayake and was immediately taken to hospital, where the finger was put back in place and the wound stitched.

According to Stuff.co.nz, New Zealand coach Mike Hesson estimated that the all-rounder would be out for between four and six weeks, which is bad news for Anderson as the IPL is due to start on April 16.

The report mentioned that the best the star all-rounder could wish for was an early May appearance for the Mumbai Indians, by which time he would have missed five rounds of the 14-round competition.

Eighty per cent of his salary was subject to availability and the other 20 per cent was at risk around selection in the playing XI, and the report added that if Anderson returned in round six, he had the potential to play for 65 per cent of his salary but that required coach John Wright to select him in the XI for the final nine rounds.

If he was available for the final nine rounds, but was not selected, he would still pocket 450,320 pounds, the report mentioned.
