The two day long curfew in Saharanpur has been lifted for a few hours in selected areas of city to let the people stock up on essential items. The curfew had been in place since Saturday after clashes took place between two groups over a disputed land.

District Magistrate (DM) of Saharanpur, Sandhya Tiwari told ANI, "The curfew has been relaxed for a few hours in the city. People have started to come out to purchase daily need items. There is nothing to be afraid of as of now."

Pushpender Singh, a mechanical worker said, "Common people are the worst targets of curfew. We could not buy necessary items and medicines. Even now only few parts have been opened which are of no big help. The area where we have major shops is closed."

The four hour window has also resulted in long queues outside the petrol pumps.

On Saturday morning violent clashes had erupted in Saharanpur amongst two groups who reportedly clashed over a patch of disputed land close to the city's railway station.

DM had yesterday indicated that the situation in the area was returning towards normalcy and claimed that no new instance of violence had occurred since it all started yesterday.

Till now nine FIRs have been filed and 38 people have been arrested post the clashes which led to three deaths.
