On specific information and intelligence gathered by a special team of the Delhi Customs Department, gold bars weighing 4000 grams and worth over Rs.1 crore were seized from a disembarking Air India passenger.
Customs officials at Terminal Three of the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) said the passenger's name was Rizwan Rehemullah and added that he had arrivedfrom Vishakapatanam on flight A1-452.
They said the gold bars were cut into 16 pieces and was valued at Rs.1,01,40,000/- . The gold bars were concealed inside the hand bag carried by Rizwan.
The gold bars were seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act 1962. Rizwan was arrested under Section 104 of the Act, said Sanjay Mangal, commissioner of Customs, IGI Airort, New Delhi.
