The Unified Communist Party of Nepal -Maoist (UCPN-M) and the Communist Party of Nepal -Unified Marxist-Leninist (CPN-UML) has signed a nine-point agreement, after the former decided to continue its support to Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli.
In the agreement signed last night, the two parties have decided to take initiatives to form a national consensus government with an objective to create conducive environment for the implementation of Constitution and socio-economic transformation, reports the Himalayan times.
Resolving the issues of Madhesi-based parties including federalism through political consensus has also been decided.
As per the spirit of the Comprehensive Peace Accord, the parties have decided to initiate the process of amending the laws within 15 days to work on transitional justice.
Apart from deciding to provide compensation to the family members of martyrs and people who have disappeared as per the decision taken by the previous governments, the ruling coalition partners have also decided to register the ownership of lands dealt on the basis of household documents during the conflict time.
Initiating the process of withdrawing or give clemency on the cases filed during the conflict period has also been decided.
While making any political or administrative appointments and taking important decisions of the government it has been decided to hold regular discussions and forge consensus among the top leaders
Accelerating the post-quake reconstruction works and launching the national campaign to deploy volunteers were also decided in the meeting.
The UCPN-Maoist had yesterday decided to form a new government under its own leadership, putting Oli-led government at stake.
The Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, later withdrew his statement and informed the Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba that forming the new government under the Maoist leadership was difficult at present.
