Declassification of Netaji's files a welcome step, says K.T.S Tulsi

Senior Supreme Court advocate and Rajya Sabha MP K.T.S Tulsi on Friday said that declassification of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's files is a welcome sign, as history must be acknowledged by the people.

"I see this as a very welcome sign, because the truth must be presented to the people, as history is supposed to be acknowledged," Tulsi told ANI.

"Netaji has done a lot of service to the country during the freedom struggle, all of that should become a legitimate part of history. And, I am glad that the truth will come out. And, we need to accept that Netaji is no more rather than live and deny," he added.

The West Bengal government on Friday declassified 64 files related to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The files were handed to the family members first and also kept on display in a police museum in Kolkata.

Commenting on Mahesh Rangarajan stepping down from the post of director of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) as the BJP government questioned the nature of his appointment approved by the previous UPA government, Tulsi said that this is most unfortunate, as he is a distinguished scholar.

"He didn't leave the job, it's the job that needed him, but unfortunately, the government seems to be having its own agenda. The government's agenda is to destroy the icons of the country," Tulsi said.
