France coach Didier Deschamps has confirmed that their winger Franck Ribery will miss out the World Cup due to back injury.
Ribery, who plays for German club Bayern Munich, has reportedly been ruled out of the France national team after he injured his lower back during a training session on Friday.
According to the BBC, Deschamps said that Ribery, who was pulled out of the training session after complaining of pain and later his MRI scan confirmed the extent of the injury, is not capable of training for a few weeks, let alone playing a game.
The three-time French player of the year has reportedly been suffering from lower back pains for several weeks, playing only once for club or country since 29 April, having managed 79 minutes in the German Cup final against Borussia Dortmund on 17 May and missed France's warm-up matches against Norway and Paraguay.
Former Chelsea midfielder Deschamps added that Ribery had to stop in training, as the pain was too strong.
Deschamps further added that they made checks in the beginning of the afternoon that confirmed that the situation had aggravated.
Meanwhile Lyon's Clement Grenier is also out with a hip injury and his absence along with Ribery's might present an opportunity to either Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin or Montpellier attacker Remy Cabella, the report added.
