Bangladesh Nationalist Party Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu has said national capital Dhaka will be renamed as "Zia City" if the BNP comes back to power.

He made the statement during a discussion programme entitled "Conspiracy and the government of one-eleven" in Dhaka on Wednesday.

"Recently, the government has renamed Pirojpur's Zianagar upazila as Indurkani upazila. It means Indurkani is more befitting to Awami League and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," the Dhaka Tribune quoted Dudu, as saying.

He accused the ruling Awami League government of changing the names of many establishments those were previously named after the greatest sons of the nation.

Dudu said the BNP would replace those changes again if it wins the national election.

Asserting that Mujib is greater than Gopal, Dudu proposed the government to rename Gopalganj district as Mujibnagar.

He also vowed to rename the big cities after the greatest sons of the soil if his party gets elected.
