Director Dexter Fletcher has cited 'creative differences' with producer Graham King as his reason for quitting the upcoming Freddie Mercury biopic.

According to Deadline.com, the biopic, which is to showcase the Queen frontman's life story on the big screen, first faced a delay in production when Sacha Baron Cohen walked out.

The actor has now been replaced by Ben Whishaw to play the lead.

Although the producers are yet to find a replacement for Fletcher, the shooting is expected to start this summer.

The legendary musician had passed away in 1991 due to an AIDS-related illness.
