Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko fired away two goals on either side of half time to help the defending champions overcome a resilient Hull City and beat them 4-2 in their Premier League clash.

City took a two-goal lead after striker Sergio Aguero's volley and strike from Dzeko from long range in the seventh and 11th minute respectively. But City's defender Eliaquim Mangala headed into his own net, then conceded a penalty, from which Abel Hernandez made it level at 2-2.

However, Bosnian forward Dzeko struck again from close range, then substitute Frank Lampard hit his fourth goal, three minutes before full time, in a week to secure the win for the defending champions.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce said that City nearly blew them away in the first 10 minutes, adding that maybe his side showed them too much respect. He said that his squad was brave or stupid to play two up top.

Bruce said that he thought his men are at home and let them give it a go.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini said that his squad was very unlucky with two individual mistakes, adding that these things can happen. He said that Mangala was very unlucky with the own goal and after that he arrived late for the penalty but they continue to trust him because he is a very good player who had very bad luck.
