Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Monday said that action should be taken against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Shah over his description of Azamgarh as a hub for terrorists, as also againt the area's biggest terrorist and BJP candidate Ramakanth Yadav.

"Our party strongly condemns Amit Shah's statement. Such comments of Amit Shah violate the EC code. It can disturb law and order in eastern UP. Shah should be banned again, and the EC should take action against him as well as against Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi for his recent remarks," said Mayawati.

"I would also like to add that in Azamgarh, the biggest terrorist is their (BJP) party candidate Ramakanth Yadav," she said.

" Even his brother Umakanth Yadav, was thrown out of the BSP and was arrested due to his reign of terror in Azamgarh, But the BJP says that there is nothing wrong with him," she added.

Amit Shah had termed Azamgarh as a "base of terrorists" backed by the ruling Samajwadi Party Government.

Campaigning for BJP's Azamgarh candidate, Ramakant Yadav who is taking on SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, Shah said: "Azamgarh is the base of terrorists as there is no fear of the government, which is advocating their release.
