The managing trustee of Bilquis Edhi Foundation, Faisal Edhi, has said that the Pakistan Government has granted 23-year-old Indian Geeta, who mysteriously ended up in Pakistan 13 years ago, permission to leave for India on October 26.
"The documentation has been completed by both countries. Pakistan has granted her permission to leave. India has completed her travel documents. The date for her departure was set as 19 (this month), but 19th is very near, and she is not fully prepared yet. So, I hope she will now leave on October 26." he said.
Earlier, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj confirmed that the government has been able to locate Geeta's family, and added that she would be handed over to them after a DNA test.
Geeta will be back in India soon. We have located her family. She will be handed over to them only after the DNA test," Swaraj said in a tweet.
Geeta was found by Pakistani Rangers 13 years ago inside the Samjhauta Express in Lahore after it had crossed the Attari-Wagah border.
She was handed over to the Edhi Foundation, Pakistan's largest charity home.
