A replica of the Eiffel Tower will be built at Rajarhat Eco Park here as a tribute to Paris terrorist attack, which left over 120 people dead.
The foundation stone for the structure was laid today in presence of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Consul General of France in Kolkata.
Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (HIDCO) chairman Debashis Sen has confirmed that the height of the structure will be equivalent to an eight storey building while it would be built using steel.
"This is a big initiative taken by the bengal govt to express their solidarity to the people of France. I will be visiting the Eiffel Tower once it gets completed after two years," said Consulate of France in Kolkata Damion Syed.
