Eighth batch of woman police takes part in Manipur passing out parade

The eighth batch of women police constables recently took part in a passing out parade here.

In all, 857 out of 908 woman police constables took part in the event.

Manipur's Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam inspected the contingents and took the salute at the parade.

Many MLAs, senior police officers, including the state's Director General of Police, and parents were present on the occasion.

Kamei Kalonunglu, a female constable, said: "During basic training, we faced several hardships, but now, I have forgotten them, as this is a special occasion for us. And I am very happy for having completed the training."

The chief guest also presented prizes to constables who had done well during their training.

Inspector General of Police, Manipur Police Training College, P. Doungel, said: "There are many problems and in some of the situations, women police can help more effectively than their male counterparts."

Diana Thingujam said: "I want to serve my people and want to sacrifice my whole life for this service. That's why I joined the police.
