Real Madrid and Spain midfielder Xabi Alonso could reportedly be on his way back into the Premier League as he is out of contract this summer.
A deal in this month's transfer window, though, would see Real require a fee and the World Cup winner will not come cheap in terms of wages as he is on 140,000 pounds -a-week at The Bernabeu.
According to the Daily Star, although Manchester United is unlikely to make a move as Alonso is 32 and a former Liverpool player - the Old Trafford club's most-bitter rivals, however, Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is interested in Alonso as a free-transfer signing.
Alonso has also been offered to Chelsea, where his former Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is in charge, and the report said that there is also the possibility of former club Liverpool exploring the deal and Premier League leaders Arsenal have been linked, too.
