England may face 'tough' test with France if fail in World Cup playoffs

England may reportedly face a tough clash with international rivals France if they fail to automatically qualify for the 2014 Rio World Cup on Tuesday.

Although England's 4-1 win over Montenegro on Friday will make it necessary for them to only beat Poland to book their World Cup seat, however, if they fail to do so, then may face a monumental clash with France in the UEFA playoffs.

According to the Mirror, England is the fourth-highest ranked side that could face the playoffs against France, which, although is certain to head for the playoffs, might fail to get a seeding because of their world ranking of 25, unlike England.

The report also mentioned that Sweden would be another of the four potential opponents for England, although there is a very little chance of them achieving a seeding if England falter against Poland.

Other possible opponents for England are Turkey, Romania, Hungary, Iceland and Slovenia, although it is unlikely that they will face Portugal, Greece, Bosnia or Croatia, the report added.
